Sell your home fast!, Make a Good Impression from the Start

When selling your home, you really do have to pay attention to every little detail. Since first impressions make a big difference and prospective buyers can find all kinds of things they don’t like, you want to do all you can to make sure things go smoothly.
Work with your agent to be sure that the lock box works and that the key works. We have heard stories of agents arriving with clients to find that the key in the lockbox does not work or requires some extra maneuvering to open the lock box. This may seem like a small thing, but it matters. If a client sees the agent has a hard time entering or can’t enter at all, this leaves a bad impression.

And then once they get to the front door, make sure that the door is welcoming. This may mean giving your front door a fresh coat of paint. You can also get a new doormat if the one you already have is worn. While you will not be able to guess what will please a prospective buyer, try to get a doormat that is welcoming and generic. A doormat with teddy bears, a sports team or a sarcastic saying might turn off someone who really wants to consider buying your Maryland real estate. And if you have a name plaque on your door, remove it. Remember that you want a prospective buyer to be able to see themselves living there and a “Welcome from the Smiths” might get in the way.
