| Samsung To Unveil A New Android Phone On November 8th Posted: 25 Oct 2010 11:12 AM PDT Samsung has just sent out an invite to most of the popular tech bloggers out there (Sadly, I did not receive one :( ) inviting them for the unveiling of their brand new Android device. The event is scheduled to take place on November 8th at 6pm in New York. As of now, there is hardly any information about the handset which Samsung is going to announce. However, rumors suggest that the this new Android based handset from Samsung will be a Google experience phone i.e. it will be running a stock version of Android 2.2 or perhaps Android 2.3? This same handset can very well be the Samsung Continuum whose pictures leaked on the Internet few weeks ago. The Samsung Continuum sports two OLED based displays with the secondary OLED display being used for some simple tasks and to preserve battery life. | Nokia N900 PR1.3 Firmware Update Released Posted: 25 Oct 2010 11:10 AM PDT Nokia has released the PR 1.3 (V20.2010.36-2) firmware update for its Maemo based internet-tablet-cum-handset – the N900. The new firmware update adds support for the Nokia Ovi Suite to make syncing data between the handset and PC easier. The update also includes 'hundreds' of tweaks and bug fixes to make the N900 run faster and smoother. This is the same firmware update about which we had reported a couple of weeks ago. This update will allow developers to dual-boot between Maemo and MeeGo OS. N900 owners can update the firmware on their device via OTA (Over-The Air). Since the handset features UDP (User Data Preservation), users don't need to make a backup of their data. However, for safety purposes users should make a backup of their data. Nokia will slowly be releasing the firmware update in various regions of the world in the upcoming weeks. | Huawei Ideos X6 and Ideos X5 Unveiled Posted: 25 Oct 2010 09:21 AM PDT Huawei first came into the limelight when it announced the Huawei Ideos, the cheapest Android smartphone known to humanity. Now, it seems that Huawei doesn’t just want a piece of the budget Android pie, but is aiming much higher. Today, it unveiled the Huawei Ideos X6 and the Huawei Ideos X5. The Huawei Ideos X6 is the better one of the two – it has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512 MB RAM, 2 GB ROM and comes with a 4.1 inch capacitive touchscreen display. It also packs in a 5 MP camera which can capture 720p HD video.
The Huawei Ideos X5 isn’t as good as the X6, and offers a smaller 3.8 inch touchscreen display with a 5 MP camera. No other specification details about the Ideos X5 are out yet. Both phones offer HSPA+ connectivity and run Android 2.2 Froyo.
