Halloween weather forecast

It's been a windy old day, strong to gale force winds with gusts between 55 and 65 mph on some coasts, hills and mountains but the wind will ease tonight. The cloud will also be breaking and clearing with a few scattered heavy showers. Saturday will be a much drier and brighter day. There will be a few showers around, and if you catch one it could be heavy, but a bit hit and miss as some places...

Halloween is thought to have its roots planted firmly in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced 'sow 'inn') - a time when Celts celebrated the end of summer and the beginning of winter. They believed that during this time, the boundaries between the living and the dead were very thin thus allowing spirits (both good and bad) to roam freely amongst the living! Huge bonfires...
