Trick or Treat….. How much is Halloween costing you?!?

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 06:49 AM PDT

I can not believe it’s almost Halloween! Again. Seems like we just had Halloween a few months ago. Since Halloween falls on a Sunday this year, we do our trick or treating on a Saturday night. I know it’s kind of weird…but that is just how they have always done it around here. Our association even sent us a notice letting us know that Saturday is the big night. We always load up the kids and go to every house that looks like mine (I live in a cookie cutter neighborhood) so I can peek in their dens and see their decorating style. (I’m one of those weirdos!) Then Sunday night we will have a Harvest of Friends celebration at our church with trunk or treating. (Fun!)

So what are your kids going to be this year and how much did you spend on the costumes?

My daughter is going as Barbie in the Mermaid Tale (cheaply made costume that my mother in law has already had to mend) and my son is going to be Dale Earnhardt Jr. (maybe he will win at Talledega. Yeah….maybe.) I paid $20 for both costumes from BuyCostume.com.

There is a really neat online bargain sharing site called Buxr. They help you find really great deals on the internet….they do the leg work and you reap the benefits! Plus you can win both daily and monthly prizes by submitting deals to Buxr or by voting on other deals posted on the site!

Buxr is almost like reading a blog. You can just scroll through the posts and see if any deals appeal to you. It’s definitely worth adding to your favorites so it can be one of the daily sites you visit.

And guess what……… Buxr has generously agreed to give one AMAZING Couponing to Disney reader a $100 Amazon.com gift card. And 10 of my awesome readers are going to get these AMAZING pink travel coffee mugs in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month. Buxr sent me one and I gave it to my mother in law and she is floored. She can make a cup of coffee and leave it sitting for 30 minutes (or more!) and come back to it and it’s still hot. No more boiling another pot because the coffee got cold. That is a great way to save some money!

If you would like to win the $100 gift card or one of the awesome mugs, here’s what you need to do.You can leave a separate comment for each way you enter. But you MUST complete the #1 option to be eligible.

1. Join the Buxr community online here. It’s free and it will enable you to see so many different deals and offers useful tools and more!

2. Find a hot deal on Buxr.com, or just share your comments about the site and how you like it!

3. Follow @Couponin2Disney and @Buxr on Twitter and tweet the following message: Enter to win a $100 Amazon.com gift cards from @Buxr at @Couponin2Disney

4. Follow me on Facebook! I love interacting with my Facebook fans and I share a lot of tips, advice and just personal tidbits on there that you won’t find on the blog.

You HAVE to leave separate comments for each of the 4 above entries. I will be using Random.org to select the winners and you will shoot yourself in the foot if you leave one comment saying you did all 4 things. ;)

This giveaway will end Sunday night at 7 pm cst!

Buxr is providing the $100 Amazon.com gift card as well as the 10 coffee mugs. They sent me a coffee mug to try. My words and opinions are my own.

Remembering my sweet precious baby boy

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 06:20 AM PDT

I can’t believe it’s already been 10 days since I held my sweet Andrew in my arms. It seems like it was only yesterday. It’s not getting any easier. I thought it would. But I don’t think it will until we have laid him to rest.

His obituary is in the paper today. You can read it in my hometown paper here if you want. I wish it didn’t exist. I wish this wasn’t happening. I wish, I wish.

We had to plan the memorial service last night. That was hard. That is something no parent should ever have to do. But I want his life to have the same respect I would of given my other children. Even though he never breathed a breath in this world. My sweet 6 year old wants to speak at the service and tell everyone how much she loves her angel brother.

There are a few songs that have given me great comfort during this time. I thought I would share them with you:

And of course writing his life story brought me tremendous comfort. You can read that here if you’d like.

I purchased the above Willow Tree angel. I collect them and I wanted one that truly showed how I feel at this time. I thought it was perfect.

The memorial service is this Saturday at 11 am at First Baptist of Moody in Moody, AL. Then Saturday, November 6th, we will lay him to rest at my father-in-law’s feet in Georgia. Then maybe I will have some closure.

I am looking for some other mementos that I can get to remember his life. I really need a perfect Christmas ornament. If you know of any items that I might get or have time to help me search for a beautiful Christmas ornament, I would appreciate it.

I just wanted to thank you all so much for what you have done and give to me. I am printing out all your wonderful comments and emails and putting them in his memory book. So even 50 years from now when Couponing to Disney is a distant memory, I will always have your words with me. Thank you for that incredible gift.

Ok the Toy Story 3 coupon is out. But it’s only for $8 instead of the $10 we had hoped for. But it’s still something. There are a lot of deals coming out and I am going to put those together for you later, but I want you to stop what you are doing and print this coupon right now. It could run out of prints at any time and I don’t want you to be left sitting high and dry.

(Thanks to all my great readers who gave me the heads up about this!)

Day 28 of No Dining Out October

Posted: 28 Oct 2010 05:36 AM PDT

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

My progress:

We went out for lunch yesterday but we had a Groupon. It covered our entire meal and we left a $5 tip. So our total was $5. :) Then church for dinner. It was $19 but I don’t count that as out to eat since it goes towards missions.

How are you doing?
