Ask the readers: How do you make a great cup of coffee?

Posted: 10 Oct 2010 12:30 PM PDT

I’ve been trying the “No Dining Out” challenge for so long and have failed every month. One of my biggest offenses is Dunkin Donuts coconut coffee. I get an extra large one every day. I make LOUSY COFFEE!!!!

So, my question is, can you ask your wonderful readers if they have any coffee making tips? I’ve tried every brand and flavor of coffee brewed through numerous different coffee pots, and they all taste awful!! If I could cut out my coffee daily, I would save over $800 a year. I can’t imagine never going to Dunkin again, but maybe just as a Sunday morning treat or something!!

The coconut is actually a flavor shot that they add to their regular coffee. it’s delicious, its like sipping vacation :)    I’ve bought a few different brands of coconut syrup and they don’t taste the same …

I just got an email about an awesome All You deal that I just had to share:

My son is in 6th grade and his school is doing a fundraiser. The last day to order and get this price and have it benefit his school is October 12. You can get 30 issues of All You magazine for only $25!!! That is only .83 a copy!!!

I have personally ordered my All You magazine through this fundraiser before and I have always been 100% satisfied.

Posted: 10 Oct 2010 09:07 AM PDT

Snapfish is running an awesome special from now until October 20th. When you purchase anything in their new fall catalog, you will get 30% off that item. Plus 2 days after you order, you will get a $10 credit in your account to spend on anything you wish. Make sure you use the code 101010 at checkout to get 30% off.

Here’s the best way to work this deal:

Purchase a 4×6 print through the fall catalog here

Use the code 101010 at checkout to get 30% off.

You will pay $1.06 and get your $10 credit 2 days later.

I hate when they exclude prints.

The last time I had a $10 credit, I used it to purchase a spiral bound notebook with our picture on it. I absolutely LOVE this notebook. It is perfect size for my purse and the paper in it is so thick! It cost $9.99, but it will be free with the $10 credit!

Day 10 of No Dining Out October

Posted: 10 Oct 2010 08:44 AM PDT

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

My progress:

I wish I could say that we did a really great job yesterday….but we didn’t. My daughter had a ball game and then we went to the Pumpkin Patch. We ended up spending about $40 yesterday for 6 people to eat.

How are you doing?
