Siamak Iqani sentenced to three years imprisonment Posted: 10 Oct 2010 09:18 PM PDT HRA News- The appeals court of the province of Semnan upheld the conviction of Siamak Iqani, a Baha'i in  this province. According to HRA reporters, the provincial appeals court of Semnan upheld the ruling of the Revolutionary Court of Semnan for Siamak Iqani, a Baha'i who lives in Semnan. According to this ruling, Iqani has been sentenced to three years in prison for spreading propaganda against the government and teaching the Baha'i Faith. Iqani was arrested and held in custody for a short time in Ordibehesht [April] last year  [http://www.iranpresswatch.org/post/2544] and was tried and convicted on Tir 9th 1388 [June 30, 2009] in the Revolutionary Court of Semnan to three years of imprisonment [http://www.iranpresswatch.org/post/5417]. Maheen Khanjani, Baha’i in Tehran, released from custody Posted: 10 Oct 2010 08:49 PM PDT Saturday 17 Mehr 1389 [9 Oct 2010] at 9:19AM Maheen Khanjani, a Baha’i in Tehran who had been arrested by security forces, was released from custody at noon today. As reported by a Rahana reporter, Maheen Khanjani, who had been arrested at her home by security forces on the morning of Thursday 15 Mehr 1389 [7 Oct 2010], was freed after 48 hours in custody on the 17th of Mehr.  The security forces upon arrival conducted a complete search of her home, and confiscated personal belongings including her computer. It is worth mentioning that the pressure on Baha’i citizens has increased during recent months, so that more than 30 Baha’i citizens have been condemned to heavy prison sentences or banishment.
