Samsung Joins the WP7 Party; Unveils the Samsung Focus and Omnia 7

At the Windows Phone 7 event today, Samsung, HTC, LG and Dell launched 9 new Windows Phone 7 devices. Of those, Samsung announced two – the Samsung Focus and the Samsung Omnia 7 i8700.

Samsung Focus

The Samsung Focus is the more stylish of the two. It has a 4 inch SuperAMOLED display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and comes with a 5 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.

It is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and comes with 256 MB RAM and 8 GB internal storage.

Other features include 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS with A-GPS support. It has a 1500 mAh Li-ion battery and will be available on AT&TT for $199.99.

Samsung Focus

Samsung Omnia 7 i8700

This is the other Windows Phone 7 phone by Samsung. The specifications are almost the same as the Samsung Focus, but it has a different design and an unspecified amount of RAM (presumably 512 MB).

It has the same 4 inch SuperAMOLED display with a 1 GHz processor and 8 GB internal storage. It also has a 5 MP camera with autofocus and LED flash and comes with 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and GPS. No pricing details are available yet.

Nokia C7 Now Shipping

It was less than a month ago that Nokia had announced the C7 and now the device has started shipping worldwide! The Nokia C7 is the mass-oriented version of the N8. The handset packs in a 3.5-inch CBD based AMOLED display with a resolution of 360×640. The handset has a very sleek look to it and is made up of stainless steel and glass. Nokia C7

The C7 runs is powered by a ARM11 680MHz processor and packs in 256MB of RAM along with 1GB of ROM and 8GB of internal memory. The C7 is the second handset after the N8 to run on Symbian's latest version – Symbian^3. The back of the phone sports an 8MP fixed focus camera with dual-LED flash which is capable of recording videos in 720p resolution.

The device is expected to cost EUR 335 before taxes and subsidies.

Dell Launches the Dell Venue Pro: WP7 Powered QWERTY Slider

Along with the LG Optimus 7, Optimus 7Q and the HTC HD7, there was an unexpected launch at the Windows Phone 7 launch event by Microsoft in New York.

Dell unveiled the Dell Venue Pro, previously known as the Dell Lightning. It is one of the best new Windows Phone 7 phones and sports some killer hardware. It has a vertical QWERTY sliding keyboard and a 4.1 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.

It will run Windows Phone 7 and has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 processor with 512 MB RAM. It offers 8 GB internal storage and supports up to 32 GB microSD cards.

It also has a 5 MP camera with autofocus and comes with 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS.

From the looks of it, it seems to be a Blackberry Torch killer. No details on the pricing or availability are out yet.

LG Unveils the LG Optimus 7 and the LG Optimus 7Q (Quantum)

LG unveiled two new Windows Phone 7 devices at the Windows Phone 7 launch event by Microsoft in New York. The two phones are the LG Optimus 7 and the LG Optimus 7Q (Quantum).

LG Optimus 7 7Q Quantum

Both the phones have similar hardware specifications but the Optimus 7 comes with a 3.8 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display while the Optimus 7 Q comes with a smaller 3.5 inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with the same display resolution. The Optimus 7Q also sports a sliding QWERTY keypad which the Optimus 7 doesn’t.

Both the phones run Windows Phone 7 and have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1 GHz processor with 512 MB RAM. Both have 16 GB internal storage and have 5 MP cameras with autofocus and LED flash. They also offer 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP. They also have GPS with A-GPS support.

The Optimus 7 will be released across the world while the Optimus 7Q will be released on AT&T for $199.99.

HTC HD7 Announced

The HD7 is one of the most anticipated WP7 devices from HTC. However, the HD7 is nothing but an exact carbon copy of the HD2. The HD7 sports a 4.3-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 800×480. The handset packs in a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 576MB of RAM, 512MB of ROM and 8GB or 16GB of internal memory. The back of the phone sports a 5MP camera with auto-focus and dual-LED flash. As you can see, there is hardly any difference hardware wise between HD2 and HD7.HTC HD7

The only difference between the handsets are that the HD7 runs on WP7 (Windows Phone 7) and can record videos in 720p resolution. The phone will also come pre-loaded with Netflix, Slacker and T-Mobile TV.

HTC HD7 will be available in mid-November exclusively on the T-Mobile network.

Microsoft Announces Nine New WP7 Based Handsets

Microsoft's WP7 event just got over and the company has announced nine new WP7 based handsets for the holiday season. These nine handsets are slated to launch Microsoft's assault on iOS and Android in more than 30 countries worldwide. These nine handsets will be available in selected European and Asian markets by October 21. WP7

“We have a beautiful line up in this first wave of Windows Phone 7 handsets,” said Steve Ballmer, chief executive officer at Microsoft. “Microsoft and its partners are delivering a different kind of mobile phone and experience – one that makes everyday tasks faster by getting more done in fewer steps and providing timely information in a ‘glance and go’ format.”

Of the nine phones announced today, HTC leads the pack with 4 handsets – HTC 7 Surround, HD7, 7 Trophy, Mozart – while LG (Optimus 7 and Quantum) and Samsung (Omnia 7 and Focus)  jointly share the second sport with Dell coming filling in the last slot with its Venue Pro.

LG Electronics today announced the first Windows Phone 7 powered smartphone, the LG Optimus 7. This handset comes with the Play-To feature which allow DLNA based multimedia-sharing. This feature allows users to access their multimedia including pictures, video and music via any DLNA compatible device.

"We have designed LG Optimus 7 series to include a truly innovative sharing experience via the Windows Phone 7 environment.
