Hourglass Traffic Light Design Posted: 03 Dec 2010 08:57 PM PST My only concern with the idea is that it may lead to 'light jumping'; where someone starts to drive even though the light is red counting on it turning green soon. Picture embedded below.

Obama Makes Surprise Trip to Afghanistan Posted: 03 Dec 2010 08:56 PM PST It was a well received visit; though there was a bit of a slip up with Obama forgetting the Coast Guard as a Military Branch. Video embedded below. ""I think we've got every service here tonight," Obama said at Bagram Air Base. He then called on the branches as their members cheered: "We've got Army. We've got Navy. We've got Air Force. I think we may have a few Marines around, too." Obama continued, "And a whole lot of folks from the 101st Airborne Division, the Screaming Eagles." Moving to his remarks, Obama said, "Now, here in Afghanistan ..." Then, someone in the crowd shouted out, "Coast Guard!" "Coast Guard?" Obama repeated. "Is that what I heard?""

U.S. employers added just 39,000 payroll jobs in November, a sharp slowdown from the prior month, the Labor Department said. The unemployment rate jumped to 9.8% from 9.6% in part due to more people joining the labor pool." To put this in the contexts of the last year and a half; after rising to %9.5, 'fake' falling to %9.4, rising to %9.7, and then rising again to 9.8%, and rising again to 10.2%, dropping to 10%, held steady, dropping to 9.7%, held steady, held steady again, increased to 9.9%, dropped to 9.7%, fell to 9.5%, holding steady, rising a tick to 9.6%, and held steady, held steady again, and now has increased to 9.8%.

No one well-known was on the list, and some of the crimes dated back decades or had drawn little more than a slap on the wrist in the first place — such as the Pennsylvania man sentenced in 1963 to probation and a $20 fine for mutilating coins. The White House didn't explain the charge, but tampering with federal currency is a crime. The White House declined to give details on the cases or comment on why these particular people were selected by a president who previously had only pardoned Thanksgiving turkeys."
