| Is This Millennial Generation Ineducable? Posted: 03 Dec 2010 05:40 AM PST Why this cultural prejudice matters to educators is that we both think youth have special powers, that they know their way around social media and texting and other patterns like breathing, and, because we think of these as magical, as something inherited not learned, we abdicate our responsibilities as educators to respond to these changed conditions. That means we are neither taking advantage of new skills these students bring nor helping them to understand the implications of having these skills versus the ones their parents mastered when they were young.
