"The holidays are a magical time of year for families and loved ones to celebrate the time they have together," said Emily Smith, vice president, Disney Online Mom and Family Portfolio. "We know holiday planning can be stressful and often costly, so we hope to deliver some Disney magic this season with some simple and budget-friendly ideas for delicious holiday recipes, inspirational crafts and homemade gifts the whole family will enjoy."

On Family.com guests can find simple and delicious holiday dinner recipes for main course entrees, soups and starters, dressing and sauces and inspirational side dish ideas, such as how to make spectacular spuds with a list of Holiday Potato Recipes. Or families can make some holiday magic together in the kitchen, by baking up a batch of sweet Snowman Cookies or festive Candy Cane Cookies, featured on FamilyFun.com.

Restaurants.com: Get a $25 certificate for $2!

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 09:20 AM PST

Restaurant.com is offering their $25 gift certificates for just $2 when you use the code JOY at checkout. The certificates are valid for one year but the discount price is only good until December 12th!

You could also goin the Dinner of the Month Club which gives you 12 $25 gift certificates plus a $50 gift certificate. You will pay just $24 after the code!

Plus through December 31st, Restaurants.com is hosting a Feed it Forward event. You can give someone you cherish a $10 Restaurants.com gift certificate. You can give up to 40 a day, every day, until the end of the year! Just go here to get started.

Here are a few restaurants near Disney you might want to check out:

House of Blues located in Downtown Disney (try zip 32830) or at Disneyland (try zip 92801)
You do have to spend at least $35 before coupon and pay 18% gratuity on your total bill.

Garden Grove located at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts (try zip 32830)
You can eat dinner with some of your favorite Disney characters! You must purchase at least 2 entrees (this is a buffet) and 18% gratuity will be added to your bill.

A testimony from a reader…. I ate at the Garden Grove at Disney two weeks ago. We had dinner around 7:30 , and Pluto and Goofy were both there and VERY ATTENTIVE to our kids.
The food was excellent! but a word of warning…this is a buffet and it's pretty pricey, about $31 per adult, and if you have a ten year old child, they are considered an adult. So it was a pricey meal even with the coupon, But the food was great and the Characters were awesome! so it was worth it. Goofy even picked up my daughters napkin off the floor and placed it on my daughters lap. Too sweet!

Todd’s English bluezoo at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts (try zip 32830)
You must purchase 2 entrees and 18% gratuity will be added to your bill.

Shula’s Steak House at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts (try zip 32830)
You do have to spend at least $35 before coupon and pay 18% gratuity on your total bill.

Kimons at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts (try zip 32830)
You must purchase 2 entrees and 18% gratuity will be added to your bill.

A suggestion from a reader… I'd highly recommend Giordano's. It's Kissimmee location has just been added to Restaurant.com listing – we're so excited! It's just a short distance from Disney & so so good.

Keep in mind that these do not work like traditional gift cards, they are more like a 50% off coupon. Each restaurant has it’s own fine print on what you need to purchase in order to use these gift certificates. I’ve seen them where you have to spend $35 and pay 18% gratuity to use the $25 gift certificate. However, this is still a great deal and a great discount and you can print them right from your computer. An instant gift. Just make sure you read the fine print. Plus they usually don’t expire for a year! Another reader suggests calling the restaurant before you buy the certificate to make they still accept it.

Day 7 of No Dining Out December

Posted: 07 Dec 2010 05:08 AM PST

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend however they choose!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

My progress:

My hubby is working long hours due to the holidays and he is going out for lunch to escape the crazies. He spent $6 at the mexican restaurant yesterday.

How are you doing?

Giveaway: This one is for my awesome Facebook fans!

Posted: 06 Dec 2010 06:40 PM PST

My awesome Facebook fans have been listening to me pine over the Disney Sketch Bag for months and months. A great deal finally came along, and I decided to buy it for myself as my Christmas present. And it is just as beautiful and amazing in person.

And because my Facebook fans put up with me for so long without complaint, I am going to give one fan the above Disney Sketch Wristlet Bag by Dooney & Bourke. It is the same pattern as my purse and we can match!

If you aren’t already a fan, that is okay. You are still eligible to win if you like me now. I put the like box beneath this so it would be easy for you to enter. And how great would this look under your tree? Seriously? It is so cute!

I am personally providing this giveaway. It is in no way affiliated with Disney.

Disney World Training: Is there such a thing as a cheap one day ticket?

Posted: 06 Dec 2010 06:05 PM PST

So you are going to Disney for just one day and you need to know how to get cheap tickets….. well that’s hard. Disney doesn’t want you to just go for one day, so they make their one day tickets outrageous. The longer your ticket is for, the cheaper it is per day.

A one day ticket for an adult is $82 and for a child is $74.

Authorized Disney ticket sellers like Undercover Tourist don’t even offer a 1 day option. However their muli-day tickets are cheaper than Disney’s prices.

There are timeshares that offer one day tickets if you are interested in sitting through one of them for your tickets. However there are many that are not legit and it might be a waste of time.

Don’t fall for the scams as you drive down to Disney that advertise free or cheap tickets. You will only be out time, energy and money.

Buying tickets online from people on Ebay or Craigslist is risky business. If they were already used at Disney and they are selling days left, there is a chance that you will get rejected at Disney and not be allowed to use them. I would not risk it.

If you are going to Disney in the fall or during Christmas, they do have the 2 parties: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tickets are $53.95 for adults and $47.95 for children. These tickets will let you into the Magic Kingdom in the evening for the party. Most rides are operating at this time, so that is an option.

If you have any suggestions on how to save on one day tickets, please let me know!

Christmas Party: Enter to win a $25 Disney gift card (can be used at Disney World, Disneyland, etc)

      Posted: 06 Dec 2010 04:17 PM PST

Yesterday I announced that Couponing to Disney’s new official travel agent is Mouse Unlimited. I chose them for many reasons, but the main one was their character. They are good, honest people who make it their mission to save you money. And it doesn’t cost you a dime. You pay the exact same with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner (a.k.a. Disney Travel Agency) like Mouse Unlimited as you would if you called Disney directly! Now that is pretty neat.

I am using Mouse Unlimited for my 2011 trip and I am so happy with the service they have given me. And I am not an easy person to work with. But Tom has been so kind and understanding and quick to give me what I want. And he knows Disney like the back of his hand. Almost as well as I do. Now that’s something! (haha)

And to celebrate this partnership, Mouse Unlimited is going to give one amazing Couponing to Disney reader a Disney gift card. This gift card can be used to pay for your vacation, pay for a meal at Disney, purchase your souvenirs, etc.

      Here’s how to enter:

Christmas Party: 1 reader will win a My Great Potty Adventures book!

      Posted: 06 Dec 2010 03:49 PM PST

My son was a late at potty training. And he has just now started using public restrooms. and that was a challenge. When we were out and about and he had to use the bathroom, he would scream bloody murder when I took him into the public bathrooms. He ONLY liked his potty and that was it. And you can imagine the looks I would get from people….

When I learned about My Great Potty Adventure, it was an answer to my prayers. It is such a brilliant concept! Each passport (you can choose from pink or blue) comes with different potty adventures and matching stickers to use when you complete them. They range from using the bathroom at the grocery store to using the bathroom at a friend’s house.

Jacob loved it! He was so excited to use the bathroom to be able to record his adventure in the passport. And I was glad that he was willing to do it somewhat hassle free (the first time was a headache but after that it was pretty much smooth sailing).

The My Great Potty Adventure books are just $9.99 and they ship free! You can choose from pink or blue. And if this is a battle you are fighting, I suggest you pick one up. You won’t regret it.

My Great Potty Adventure has generously agreed to give one amazing Couponing to Disney reader a passport for their child. You can even choose the color!

      Here’s how:

My Great Potty Adventure was kind enough to provide me with one as well as one to giveaway. All words and opinions are my own!

Miss Lucys Monograms is owned by a retired teacher who loves monogramming and Disney! They are committed to unique accessories, great prices, amazing monogramming, and wonderful customer service!

When she first contacted me, I was still pregnant and I decided to pick the 3 piece quilted diaper bag/tote bag/purse. It is such a cute bag and I could not resist it. I decided I didn’t care if the baby was a girl or a boy….. I knew that I would look CUTE wearing that bag. And I am so glad that I did.

This bag is awesome. It has 3 pockets on the front of the bag which are great for carrying things like bottles, powder, toys, etc. The back also contains a zippered pocket which is great for carrying a little cash.

The front of the bag is white and black polkadots with a pink grosgrain ribbon. The top half is solid black and great for monogramming with whatever you want! The back is white and black polkadot as well as the bonus zippered pouch.

The bag is 13 inches wide and 3 inches tall. It comes with a padded changing pad that is just the right size.

I really like this bag. It is very well made and it could pass for a purse or a tote! Now that I have lost the baby, I think I might just use it to tote stuff around. I just love it so much!

Miss Lucy Monograms has generously agreed to give one AMAZING Couponing to Disney reader a $30 gift card to choose whatever item they would like. They carry everything from Aprons to Watches!

Amazon.com: Garmin 4.3 inch Widescreen for $79.54 shipped!

        Posted: 06 Dec 2010 02:12 PM PST

Here is a HOT deal on a Garmin.

Amazon.com has the Garmin 4.3 inch widescreen portable GPS navigator for just $79.54 shipped. I am personally ticked off at this price since I gave $117 for this last February.

We love our Garmin though. It has not let us down yet. We used it to get to Disney and back as well as various trips around town. What I LOVE about a GPS is that you can look up restaurants, stores, gas stations, etc that are near you. This really comes in handy when you are on a trip and the kids are screaming MCDONALDS! Just click on the one you want to go to and it will route you there.
