An article on the NewsWeek website presents several reasons to doubt the recently announced “arsenic bacteria.” It is possible that arsenic is merely “contained” within the bacteria rather than being “incorporated into their biochemistry”.

I new large binocular telescope with twin 8.4-meter mirrors has been built atop of Mount Graham, Arizona. “With this high-resolution imaging capability, astronomers hope to probe nearby solar systems — specifically, the areas in these systems where Earth-like planets with liquid water could exist.” Quoted from the NASA press release.

Sulfuric Acid Clouds of Venus

Venus is has a cover of low altitude (50-70 kilometer) sulfuric acid clouds that block our view of the planet’s surface. They have formed by the accumulation of sulfur dioxide from volcanic eruptions. The European Space Agency has an interesting article about these clouds and how they might have a message for preserving earth’s climate.
