Evolution of Mammals After the Dinosaur Extinction

Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide in Rhea’s Atmosphere

“NASA’s Cassini spacecraft has detected a very tenuous atmosphere known as an exosphere, infused with oxygen and carbon dioxide around Saturn’s icy moon Rhea. This is the first time a spacecraft has directly captured molecules of an oxygen atmosphere – albeit a very thin one — at a world other than Earth.” Quoted from the NASA press release.

Canadian Diamond Deposit is Larger Than Thought

Stornoway Diamond Corporation assessed a kimberlite deposit and later found out that instead of being carrot-shaped it was shaped like an inverted carrot – larger at the bottom than at the top. As a result their resource calculations were only 25% of what really existed.

Rig Count is Up 50% Compared to One Year Ago

The Baker Hughes Rig Count stands at 1687 for November 24, 2010. That is 550 more rigs working compared to just one year ago on November 25, 2009.

If you are not familiar with the Baker Hughes Rig Count, it is a weekly tally of the number of oil and gas rigs drilling in the United States. Their website features an interactive map and graphing tools. Check it out.

Google Earth Has Improved Street Views

Google has released a new version of their Google Earth software that has significant improvements in its Street View features.

What’s Being Said by China About China’s Rare Earth Policy

Many countries are concerned about China’s recent reduction in rare earth material exports. They have also significantly cut their production in 2009 and 2010. Their goal is sustainability.
