Post a deal for a chance to win a $5 Amazon gift card!

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 05:16 AM PST

I have my 6 week follow up doctor’s appointment at 9 am this morning and I don’t have a chance to schedule any posts for you guys, so I need some help please!

Post a deal, any deal, and you will be eligible to win a $5 Amazon.com gift card. I am going to give away 3 cards, so the more deals you post, the more chances you have to win!

Here’s the rules:
1. Everything must be in your own words. You can not copy a deal word for word from another bargain blog.
2. When you post your deal, you must format it like this:
Store name (like Walmart, Amazon, Price Chopper, etc)
Deal
That way people can scroll past your deal if it isn’t for a store they have in their area.

There is no limit to how many deals you can post. This is an incredible way to help me out as well. I’d truly appreciate it!

Please note that I do have a comment filter on the blog. If your post doesn’t show up, it just means it has gotten caught in the filter. It will show up eventually, I just have to approve it.

Day 2 of No Dining Out December

Posted: 02 Dec 2010 05:12 AM PST

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend however they choose!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

My progress:

I met one of my amazing readers friends for lunch yesterday at Chili’s. We talked for 3 hours about life and I had a really great time. I spent $16 after tip.

How are you doing?

WDW Training: The WDW Countdown iPhone App

Posted: 01 Dec 2010 06:13 PM PST

iPhones and iPods are very popular and there are tons of Disney apps for them. But which ones should you purchase and which ones can you do without? I am launching an iPhone series to give you my opinion on each of the Disney apps.

WDW Countdown is 99c from the iTunes store. It counts down the days until you leave for Disney. You can choose your background from over 30 different pictures of the parks, hotels, rides and more. You can also change the wrapper (mine is gray) to the color of your choice.

I think it’s a very fun app and for me personally it’s a must have. I use it to set my wallpaper on my phone each day.

Be sure to catch up on the previous training posts here.

Let’s Save Some Money – Make Your Own Fire Starters From Newspaper!

Posted: 01 Dec 2010 05:55 PM PST

Saving money….. now there’s a topic we all love. Most of you are here reading my blog because you want to save more money. We save at the grocery store and we save at the drug store. But there are lots of ways we could be saving and stretching our dollar……

A money saving tip from a reader:

Have you ever wondered what you could do with all those newspaper?

Well, if you have a fireplace or fire pit, you can easily turn your newspaper pile into fire starter logs.
Just fill up your kitchen sink with water, take each section of the paper individually and soak it in the water and then roll them up and let them dry completely. And that’s all there is to it!

Have a money saving tip you’d like to share? Just send me an email!

JCPenney: 4 Princess Dolls for $4.79 and 3 set Tiara/Shoes for $11.99!

Posted: 01 Dec 2010 02:19 PM PST

Before I tell you about this deal, I want to tell you that JCPenney.com is running TERRIBLY slow and if you want this deal you might have to call it in. The number is 1-800-322-1189. “The phone number on the website isn't even being answered, it just tells you about their "technical difficulties." So I called the catalog order number (800-222-6161) and got a nice rep in about 8 minutes…I'd recommend going this way!”

They have the set of 4 Princess Dolls for just $4.79 when you use the code 4RELVES at checkout. These are not official Disney dolls, but the dresses look great to me and you can’t beat $4.79.

They also hae the Disney Princess Shoes and Tiara Set for just $11.99 when you use the code 4RELVES at checkout.

Select site to store pickup to avoid shipping costs if possible.

Plus don’t forget about the Disney Princess dresses that I mentioned earlier. They are $7.99 after the code at checkout.

Let me know if you are able to order these!
