Arabs Stone Israelis Trying to Save Arab Child

Posted: 07 Nov 2010 08:54 PM PST

How dare those Israelis try to save that Arab boy's life. Clearly they were just asking for the stoning.

"Jerusalem area Arabs once again have stoned two Israeli Magen David ambulances trying to help neighbors. This time, the medical rescue vehicles were trying to save an Arab boy who fell five floors from his home in El Azaria, a village between the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of French Hill and nearby Maaleh Adumim.

Magen David medics were resuscitating the youth when attackers began to pummel them with rocks from all directions, breaking the windshield.

ACORN Files for Bankruptcy

Posted: 07 Nov 2010 08:40 PM PST

This news did not get a lot of press given what I am guessing was ACORN's intentional timing. The ACORN name was irreparably harmed, but it is doubtful the organization will truly just 'go away'. The same structure will reemerge with a new face.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/beltway-confidential/acorn-files-for-bankruptcy-106555913.html

"If you're a Republican looking for a cherry to put on top of your election sundae, here it is — pulled straight from the website of Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now:

The ongoing political onslaught caused irreparable harm. This effort was a clear attempt to cast a shadow over the historic 2008 Presidential election, and set up a far right counter offense. Through those attacks we re-tooled and re-organized. Then again came the right-wing media blitz. This time of edited videos that misrepresented our mission, and consequently misled the public. The pressure and cost of defending ourselves in multiple investigations as a result of the falsified videos has eroded our organization. As a result we will be filing Chapter 7 bankruptcy by close of business today.

We have seen this coming for some time. Our chapters closed in the first quarter of the year. We have spent our remaining resources trying to dissolve the organization with integrity, while continuing to respond to the extremist attacks. Allegations and reports will continue to try to undermine all that ACORN has done, often searching for evidence from long before I became CEO.

Thank you to all our members, supporters, funders, friends and allies who helped ACORN carve out a deep and lasting place in history. Let us all learn from the past, and march boldly into the future. ACORN will live on in the hearts of the people it served, and as those of us who fight for justice know, "THE PEOPLE UNITED WILL NEVER BE DEFEATED".

Yeah, they said it — ACORN is "history.""

Advanced Nations to Borrow $10.2 Trillion in 2011

Posted: 07 Nov 2010 08:33 PM PST

The United States makes up about 40% of that need. Percentage-wise (based on GDP) Greece is doing better then we are.

http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2010/11/06/number-of-the-week-102-trillion-in-global-borrowing

"Next year, fifteen major developed-country governments, including the U.S., Japan, the U.K., Spain and Greece, will have to raise some $10.2 trillion to repay maturing bonds and finance their budget deficits, according to estimates from the International Monetary Fund. That's up 7% from this year, and equals 27% of their combined annual economic output.

Aside from Japan, which has a huge debt hangover from decades of anemic growth, the U.S. is the most extreme case. Next year, the U.S. government will have to find $4.2 trillion. That's 27.8% of its annual economic output, up from 26.5% this year. By comparison, crisis-addled Greece needs $69 billion, or 23.8% of its annual GDP.

Olbermann (MSNBC) Back on Air This Tuesday

Posted: 07 Nov 2010 08:19 PM PST

Guess they think Olbermann (MSNBC) learned his lesson. Not much of a punishment though; two-thirds of a day per infraction.

"His dozens of fans rejoice!

After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night's program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy. We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night.

2 days? That's not even one per donation.
