Fed to Print Money to Buy up to $900 Billion of Government Bonds

Posted: 04 Nov 2010 02:56 PM PDT

The Federal Reserve is going to print dollars, and then use those dollars to buy government bonds. It is if we are just begging for an inflationary spike.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703506904575592471354774194.html

"The Federal Reserve, in a dramatic effort to rev up a "disappointingly slow" economic recovery, said it will buy $600 billion of U.S. government bonds over the next eight months to drive down interest rates and encourage more borrowing and growth.

Many outside the Fed, and some inside, see the move as a 'Hail Mary' pass by Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke.
...
In essence, the Fed now will print money to buy as much as $900 billion in U.S. government bonds through June—an amount roughly equal to the government's total projected borrowing needs over that period.

In normal times, a Fed spending spree on government bonds would be highly inflationary, because it would flood the economy with money and raise worries about too much government spending. The mere worry of too much inflation in financial markets could drive long-term interest rates higher and cause the Fed's program to backfire.
...
This is the Fed's second experiment with a big bond-buying program. Between January 2009 and March of this year, the central bank purchased roughly $1.7 trillion worth of government and mortgage bonds. That move also sparked worries about inflation, which so far hasn't materialized. The bond-buying program is known in some corners as quantitative easing.

CBS Affiliates Caught Conspiring Against Joe Miller (R) Fired

The two people overheard talking on the voice mail have been fired. Looks like despite the denials, what they were doing was extremely inappropriate.

"Local CBS affiliate KTVA announced Tuesday afternoon via press release (.doc) that two producers are no longer with the station as a result of an accidental voice recording which captured newsroom staff discussing coverage plans for Joe Miller rally last Thursday."

Not only did San Francisco's Board of Supervisors votes to on this ridiculous measure, but it passed. More then just passed, passed with enough to override a veto.

CBS Uses Photoshopped Half Black/White Obama

Posted: 04 Nov 2010 02:13 PM PDT

Was it just by chance that the darker side of Obama is with the Democrats and the lighter side is with the Republicans? Can you imagine the uproar if Fox News has used this? I have to imagine that there were a number of people that had to check off on this before it was posted; not a single one thought this would be in bad taste...

This is the picture CBS used as part of their election coverage.

"Accompanying their election coverage on their website, CBS published this photoshopped picture of a half black/half white President Obama with Republicans and Democrats on either side of him as if to say he is split between the two.

Needless to say Obama's white side is on the side of the GOP's John Boehner and Eric Cantor. His black half is on the side of Harry Reid and Charles Schumer. Are they saying that Obama will have to act white with Republicans?

Grayson (D) Loses to Webster (R)

Grayson (D) lost to Webster (R) by 18 points. He was 'classy' to the end. The first clip is his concession, the second is Webster talking about his victory.

Beck was pretty happy about all of it.

I still get the feeling that he just does not get it. This election was not just, as he insinuates, a choice between two different ways forward ignoring everything done in since his election. This election was also repudiation of the past two years.
