House vs. Home: Words Matter in Real Estate

Posted: 03 Nov 2010 02:00 AM PDT

Words matter a great deal in real estate. The words that are used in real estate advertisements to sell a property can go a long way towards persuading a prospective buyer.

And if you have noticed, sometimes a real estate professional will use the word "home" when they discuss a property you want to buy, but they will use the “house” when they discuss a property you want to sell. The reasoning behind this is that it prospective buyers can be convinced to buy when they envision themselves living in a property and making it into a home of their own. On the other side of equation, if you are a seller, thinking of a property as a house will help you to detach so that you can get your property ready to sell.

If you are looking for an experienced Maryland realtor to help sell your Maryland real estate, look no further than John Day.
