Does your family do Elf on the Shelf?

      Posted: 03 Nov 2010 11:21 AM PDT

The Christmas season is quickly approaching. Christmas trees will be going up soon and elves will begin arriving from the North Pole.

Wait?!? What?!? You haven’t heard of Elf on the Shelf?

Elf on the Shelf is an elf and book set by Carol Aebersold. On Thanksgiving night, your elf arrives in your home directly from the North Pole. The elf bring with them the book Elf on the Shelf which tells their story and their purpose of being in your home. Each night while your children sleep, your elf visits the North Pole to report your child’s behavior directly to Santa himself. He then returns to your home and picks a new, unique hiding place.

My children have so much fun waking up each morning and hunting for their elf. I use this site to come up with new and unique locations for the elves. I can not wait for our elves to return from the North Pole!

You can go here and order your own Elf on the Shelf set for $29.95. Ships free! I have also seen these at Hallmark ($30 plus tax). Or you could get creative and find your own elf and make up your own story!

I’ll be sure to post some pictures of our elves’ unique hiding places! One of our favorite places is when one of the elves get stuck inside the fridge!

Sign up for the Couponing to Disney Christmas Card Exchange!

      Posted: 03 Nov 2010 10:51 AM PDT

I absolutely love getting Christmas Cards. For the past 5 years I have participated in Christmas Card exchanges online with various message boards I frequented. But this year I decided that I would host a Christmas Card Exchange here on Couponing to Disney!

      Here’s how it works:

      1. You will be in a group of 20 various Couponing to Disney readers (myself included).

      2. Sometime during the Holiday season, you will need to mail 19 cards to the people on the list. You will receive 19 cards in return!

      Here’s how to sign up:

      1. Email me your name and address before November 24th. Make sure you put “Christmas Card Exchange” in the subject line. (my email is CouponingtoDisney @gmail.com)

      2. I will email you the list of people in your group by Sunday, November 28th.

      I am so excited!

Day 3 of No Dining Out November

      Posted: 03 Nov 2010 06:00 AM PDT

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

      The rules:

      1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
      2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
      3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
      4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
      5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
      6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
      7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

      My progress:

No dining out for us yesterday. :)

      How are you doing?
