ING Direct: Get a $25 bonus when you open a Kids Saving Account with just 50c!

Posted: 27 Nov 2010 10:03 AM PST

ING Direct is an online bank that has very high interest rates (usually higher than you find at a local bank). I have been a member of ING Direct since 2006. I have never had ANY issues and I love being able to earn a good bit of interest on my money. I easily transfer money between my local checking account and ING and it’s all protected! I wouldn’t be telling you about this deal if I didn’t feel fully confident in this bank.

This weekend, you can open your child a *NEW* Kids Saving Account at ING and get $25 for free! You are only required to open it with 50c!

Here’s how:

Go here and click on the ING logo in the top left corner

Then click on Learn More next to the Black Friday banner

Look for the Kids Savings Account box and click on either Learn More or Open Now

Enter your personal information & agree to the Terms & Conditions

Make an electronic deposit from your current checking account (of at least 50c!)

Submit your account

Your $25 will be deposited into your account shortly and you can withdrawal it into your checking account after 30 days.

It really works! I have gotten this type of bonus 3 times in the past (one for me, husband and oldest daughter). Now that it’s back I have created an account for my son as well. That is an $25 easy for either your fund or a great start for your child’s savings account!

How was your Black Friday outings? Awesome deals? Crazy drama?

Day 27 of No Dining Out November

Posted: 27 Nov 2010 08:02 AM PST

Can you go an entire month without going out to eat? What about a week or a day? Can you cut your dining bill by 20%, 50% , 75% or more? That is what I challenge you to do!

At the end of the 30 days, I will choose one winner who will get $50 to spend at a restaurant(s) of their choice!

The rules:

1. You must challenge yourself. Try to spend less than you spend now. If you don’t go out to eat at all, challenge yourself to try new meals this month. As long as you are challenging yourself when it comes to your family’s eating habits, you can participate!
2. You must comment on at least 10 days worth of the discussion posts in order to be eligible to win the gift card.
3. The winner will be chosen at random. It won’t matter if you have been 100% successful or not.
4. You are allowed 1 freebie meal that you don’t have to count or report back to us about. Please report on everything else though so we can encourage and support one another!
5. Free meals do not count against you. This is a challenge to spend less money going out to eat than you usually spend. If someone else is paying for the meal or you have a coupon to make it free, great!
6. Here is a thought… consider keeping a tally of what you would of spent this month. For example, if you really want to go out for breakfast this morning and you resist… write that down! You could then donate that money to a food bank or deposit it into your fund!
7. Be sure to check out our list of casserole recipes here and the crock pot recipes here and the under 6 ingredient recipes here.

My progress:

No dining out for us yesterday. Today we are having our Thanksgiving meal!

How are you doing?
